The Picks ("we," "us," or "our") operates thepicks.co. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information about you when you use our Platform. By using the Platform, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following information:

• Google account information: When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture as provided by Google. We do not receive or store your Google password.
• Usage data: Your picks, pool memberships, and activity on the Platform (rounds participated in, picks made, points earned).
• Device and browser data: Standard server logs including IP address, browser type, and pages visited. This data is used for security and performance monitoring only.

We do not collect payment information, financial data, or sensitive personal information. We do not knowingly collect information from children under the age of 13.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

• Authenticate your identity and maintain your account.
• Display your name and picks to other members of pools you have joined.
• Calculate and display leaderboard standings.
• Send pool-related email notifications when requested by a pool organizer (round announcements).
• Monitor and improve the performance and security of the Platform.
• Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising purposes.

4. Information Shared with Other Users

By joining a pool, you understand and agree that your name and picks will be visible to other members of that pool, subject to the pool's settings (picks are typically hidden until a round locks). Your email address is never displayed to other pool members. Pool organizers may see your name for the purpose of managing pool membership.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the Platform:

• Google OAuth: For authentication. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
• Supabase: For database hosting. Your data is stored on Supabase's infrastructure.
• Vercel: For application hosting. Subject to Vercel's Privacy Policy.
• Resend: For transactional email delivery (round announcements). Your email address may be passed to Resend solely for the purpose of delivering pool notification emails.
• football-data.org: For sports data. No personal data is shared with this service.

We do not share your personal data with these services beyond what is necessary to operate the Platform.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account information and pick history for as long as your account is active or as needed to operate the Platform. If you wish to delete your account and associated data, please contact us at hello@thepicks.co. We will process deletion requests within 30 days. Note that pick data associated with resolved bets may be retained in aggregate or anonymized form for record-keeping purposes.

7. Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. Authentication is handled via Google OAuth — we never store or transmit passwords. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

8. Cookies

The Platform uses a session cookie solely to maintain your authenticated session. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or any third-party analytics cookies. You may disable cookies in your browser settings, but doing so will prevent you from staying signed in.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights including:

• The right to access the personal information we hold about you.
• The right to correct inaccurate personal information.
• The right to request deletion of your personal information.
• The right to object to or restrict certain processing of your data.
